Welcome to RateThatBar. These Site Guidelines outline the expectations for contributing content and interacting with others on ratethatbar.com ("the Service").

By using the Service, you agree to follow these guidelines. Failure to do so may result in content removal or account suspension.

Respectful Conduct

We aim to foster a community built on honesty, respect, and inclusivity. Users must engage respectfully when submitting content and avoid offensive, discriminatory, or inflammatory language or imagery.

Examples of prohibited behavior include:

• Hate speech or slurs based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, or disability
• Threats, personal attacks, or targeted harassment
• Profane, sexually explicit, or graphically violent content
• Intentionally harmful or provocative language

Authenticity and Accuracy

Submissions should reflect genuine, firsthand experiences. Content that is false, exaggerated, misleading, or promotional undermines the integrity of the platform and is not allowed.

Please avoid:

• Posting fake reviews or reviews of bars you have not personally visited
• Submitting content on behalf of others without their consent
• Using AI-generated, stock, or irrelevant images that misrepresent the venue
• Misrepresenting someone else's experience or identity as your own

Photo Guidelines

Photos uploaded to RateThatBar should provide an honest and helpful representation of the bar being reviewed. We encourage original images that capture the atmosphere, layout, or overall experience.

Please avoid uploading:

• Images that are blurry, low-quality, or unrelated to the bar
• Screenshots, memes, AI-generated, or stock images
• Photos containing identifiable individuals without their consent
• Content with graphic violence, nudity, or offensive material

Spam and Promotional Content

RateThatBar is a platform for honest, user-generated reviews—not for advertising, promotion, or unrelated content.

Please do not post:

• Advertisements or solicitations (including links to external products or services)
• Duplicate reviews or spammy text
• Promotions or discount codes
• Unrelated links, hashtags, or social media handles

Impersonation and Misuse of Identity

Users must not impersonate other individuals, including bar staff, public figures, or other RateThatBar users. Misleading others by misrepresenting your identity or affiliations undermines the integrity of the platform.

The following actions are not allowed:

• Creating accounts using false identities or someone else's name
• Falsely claiming to be affiliated with a bar or establishment
• Submitting content pretending to be another user or entity

Bar Requests

Users may suggest new bars to be added through our request feature. Suggestions should reflect real establishments and include accurate information. Duplicate or spam submissions may be disregarded. We reserve the right to approve or deny submissions at our discretion.

Review Moderation

All user submissions may be subject to moderation. We reserve the right to remove or, where necessary, edit content that violates these guidelines or our Terms and Conditions. Repeated violations may lead to account suspension or removal.

Reporting Content and Issues

We strive to maintain a safe and trustworthy platform. If you encounter content that violates these guidelines or suspect a user of inappropriate behavior, please report it to us.

Our team reviews reports and takes appropriate action, which may include content removal, warnings, or account suspension.

Enforcement and Updates

We take these guidelines seriously to help ensure a respectful and honest environment for everyone using RateThatBar. Violations may result in warnings, content removal, temporary suspensions, or permanent bans, depending on the severity and frequency of the offense.

We may update these guidelines from time to time to reflect changes in our policies or community standards. When we do, we'll revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
